Foundation stock background

Balgay's Shorthorn foundation stock was bought from top breeders, Donald Biggar, Chapelton Farm, and John Scott, Fearne Farm, both of whom could not have been more helpful. In addition, we brought in key stock from our own Drumcross Farm, part of Aird Farming Group.

Across the Aird Farming Group, we pay serious attention to EBV characteristics and will not work with animals unless they have good temperament.

Two fantastic foundation bulls, Braveheart and Glenisla Zetor, were bought in to complete the foundation stock.  We feel very lucky to have been able to purchase these outstanding animals as both bulls lived up to all expectations.  Braveheart and Glenisla Zetor, combined with Chapelton, Fearne and Drumcross cows have enabled Balgay to produce the exceptional progeny seen on the farm today.
